The Postal Museum’s summer of storytelling is back, this time with a very special delivery from The Jolly Postman.

Expect storytelling sessions and crafty activities in our summer holiday family programme, inspired by the fairy-tale world of Janet and Allan Ahlberg’s classic book.

The Summer of Storytelling is delivered in partnership with Faber-Castell.

What’s On: Summer Holidays

All activities are included with museum admission along with a ride on Mail Rail, the underground postal railway.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and we kindly ask that grown-ups stay with their children to enjoy the activities together.

Family Storytelling: The Jolly Postman

Thursday 6 August, Thursday 13 August, Thursday 20 August, Thursday 27 August | 11:30 – 12:15, 13:30 – 14:15, 14:45 – 15:30

Help the Jolly Postman to deliver the post in a magical storytelling experience inspired by Janet and Allan Ahlberg’s much-loved book.

Hop on your bike and follow an interactive delivery round full of songs, signs, rhymes and humour. Journey door-to-door in fairy-tale land delivering letters for familiar favourites from the Three Bears to The Wicked Witch, drinking plenty of cups of tea along the way!

This facilitator-led 45-minute storytelling session is packed with props, rhymes and hands-on magic moments.

Useful information

This activity takes place in Learning Space A at The Postal Museum.
Please meet us at the bottom of the stairs by the café on The Postal Museum side.
Each timeslot has space for up to 45 people, with places available on a first come, first served basis.
Perfect for children aged 3+ and their grown-ups to enjoy together!

Family Fun in the Mail Rail Depot

Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 23 July – 29 August | 10:00 – 16:00

Join us for playful family activities inspired by the fairy-tale world of The Jolly Postman.

Step into the Mail Rail depot and discover a different themed experience each week inspired by characters from The Jolly Postman.

Whether The Jolly Postman is a treasured family favourite or a story you’re discovering for the very first time, families can enjoy a relaxed, creative space to play, make and explore the joy of all things mail.
