Tickets

Enjoy Summer Savings on visits from 25 June to 1 September. Ticket includes unlimited access to The Postal Museum for one year from the date of your visit and one ride on Mail Rail, valid on your first visit to the Museum. Sorted! The Postal Play Space requires a separate ticket.

Save £2.50 per adult ticket and over £1 per child – savings are automatically applied for all eligible visit dates.

Please note weekends and busy periods may be sold out, with limited walk-up tickets available. We recommend booking your ticket in advance to guarantee entry.

The Postal Museum

The Postal Museum and Mail Rail are in two separate buildings on Phoenix Place.

Head to Mail Rail first, across the road from The Postal Museum, arriving just before the time printed on your ticket. Staff will be on hand to show you the route around the museum.

		Cycle We have a cycle rack in our courtyard space. Visit the admissions desk to get the access code. There are also several Santander Cycle Hire docking stations nearby. Find Santander docking station

Facilities

		The Café Take a break with snacks and refreshments in our café, conveniently located in our Welcome Space. We’re accredited by Kids in Museums as part of their Family Café Standard, meaning that our café is great for families! Download our sample café menu (PDF)
		Accessible toilets & baby changing Toilets and baby changing facilities are located on the ground floor of the main Postal Museum building and the lower ground floor of the Mail Rail building. Toilets are individual, self-contained cubicles available to all. A Changing Places toilet for visitors and the general public is on the lower ground floor of Mail Rail.
		Child-friendly eating & baby feeding Our cafe has highchairs. Breastfeeding and bottle feeding are welcome anywhere. For a bit more privacy, our First Aid Room in Mail Rail can be used to feed your baby if not in use. One of our hosts can help you on the day.
		Buggy access & parking No buggies or pushchairs allowed on the lower ground floor of Mail Rail. Buggy parking is available in Mail Rail only, on the ground floor.
		Wheelchair access The exhibition in The Postal Museum building is completely accessible to wheelchair users.

How long should I plan to be at the museum for?

We recommend planning for 2-3 hours at the museum and 4 hours during holidays.

When is the Archive open?

The Archive is open Wednesday to Friday and the 2nd Saturday of each month 10:00 – 16:30.

Can I bring a group?

Yes. If you would like to enquire about bringing a group to the museum, please visit our groups booking page for the most up to date information.

What happens if the museum has to close on a day I’ve booked a ticket?

In the event the museum has to close, we will contact you before your visit to make you aware. You will be offered credit to visit the museum on a future date. Tickets are non-refundable, as by purchasing a ticket you are making a donation to the museum, a registered charity. Read our Ticket Terms & Conditions for more information.

Is there somewhere to store a bike during my visit?

There is some limited bike storage at The Postal Museum. Electric scooters and other forms of transport that do not store in bike racks cannot be stored at the museum.

What happens to lost property?

For lost property enquiries, please contact us either by email at [email protected] or via the contact form on our site with your name, contact details, a description of the item and the date of your visit.

We keep lost items for 14 days. This excludes bank cards or store cards. They are destroyed within 24 hours. High value items (i.e. mobile phones) are kept for 30 days.
