Postal Workers

Current Royal Mail and Post Office staff can visit the museum at any time for £2 per person. We recommend booking your ticket in advance to guarantee entry but you can turn up on the day. You will need to show your staff pass / ID.

We run regular Open Days (currently four times a year) for postal workers. On these days current and past Royal Mail and Post Office staff along with their friends and families can visit the museum for £2 each. You can visit the museum, ride on Mail Rail, visit our exhibitions, find out more about objects from the museum’s collections and archives and take part in arts and crafts activities for families. We recommend booking your tickets in advance to guarantee entry.

We are planning to run a range of other events and activities for postal workers. More details will be posted on this page and sent out via our postal worker mailing list. 

Mail Rail memories

2027 is the 100th anniversary of Mail Rail. If you worked on Mail Rail (whether as an engineer, on the platforms, in admin, as a cleaner or in any other role) and have memories or stories to share, then we’d love to hear from you. 

Donate to our collections

We are always interested in hearing about items that we could add to our collections, especially those which represent the everyday working lives of postal workers. 

You can visit the Archive at The Postal Museum to find out more about the history of the postal service. You can explore your family history, and look at staff magazines, Post Office circulars, photographs and poster albums.

If you can’t come in person, you can carry out research from home.
